Meeting up with Dr Alain Gregoire

It was lovely to meet up with Alain, who has been such an inspiration to me throughout my perinatal mental health journey.  I first met Alain in the early 2000 when he was the first President of the United Kingdom and Ireland Marce Society for Perinatal mental health (UKIMS). I followed in his footsteps and was President for the 4 years following Alain’s term.

Alain’s history is that for over 25 years he was a Consultant Perinatal psychiatrist in Hampshire and set up the first PMH service. Alain is widely known for his clinical services and lecturing worldwide, particularly the Global Maternal Mental Health Alliance. Alain took a fundamental part  on the television programme ‘Trust me I’m a Doctor’ as the ‘resident psychiatrist and more recently was closely involved in the BBC documentary   ‘My Baby Psychosis and Me’, which won Best Documentary in the Royal Television Society Awards.

Alain and I discussed the progress of the Marce Society, of which we are both extremely fond. We are hoping to go to the next conference in Barcelona next year.
